You can change your display name with /nick, including colorful names with gradients. You can also set your /pronouns, to help others know how to refer to you in chat. This helps everyone feel welcome and respected.
You can see a player's real name and preferred pronouns by hovering over their name in chat.

Can I use any name I want?
You can pick any appropriate nickname that follows the server rules.
The best nicknames are short and don't overuse effects—if you make your nickname bold and italic and underlined and neon, you might get asked to simplify it so it isn't annoying in chat! Also don't make your entire nickname "magic" characters or you'll be asked to change it as well.
